Mondiaal FNV is seeking a Country Representative for Colombia on consultancy basis. This part-time position (10-12 days/month) is initially available until the end of April 2026, with potential for renewal. The consultant will work from home or their own office facilities, primarily individually, but with occasional team collaboration.

Mondiaal FNV supports workers worldwide in their fight for decent work. Since 1975, we have been empowering workers and their unions to combat exploitation and improve working conditions. We partner with unions, provide financial support and expertise, and lobby for better working conditions, stronger unions, and more female leadership. Our mission is to ensure that everyone has the right to fair working conditions, a living wage, social protection, and collective bargaining. In Colombia Mondiaal FNV mainly works on strengthening trade unions in the oil palm industry and supporting trade unions and workers and their families in achieving a just energy transition.

Purpose

The Country Representative will support Mondiaal FNV programmes and partner organisations in Colombia, enhancing the quality of programme implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The role involves providing strategic recommendations on country programming, labour union needs, and emerging issues, and representing Mondiaal FNV to local stakeholders to increase visibility and foster collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

1. Country strategy and programme development

  • Contribute to context analysis and strategic development of programme plans;
  • Identify and assess potential partners, projects, and programme opportunities;
  • Facilitate participatory programme formulation according to Mondiaal FNV and donor guidelines;
  • Share insights on funding opportunities and local trends.

2. Strategic programme implementation and partner support

  • Support strategic implementation of Mondiaal FNV's (global) programmes;
  • Provide technical and operational support to local partner organisations/unions;
  • Monitor programme activities to ensure alignment with organisational standards and local needs;
  • Support partner organisational capacity assessments and development plans;
  • Coordinate support missions, technical reviews, evaluations, and campaigns;
  • Integrate a gender transformative lens across projects.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting, and Learning

  • Assist partners with reporting, monitoring, and evaluation practices;
  • Collect and consolidate reports and feedback from partner organisations;
  • Facilitate learning and reflection sessions with partners and stakeholders;
  • Contribute to cross-country working groups on programmatic themes.

4. Relationship Building and Representation

  • Represent Mondiaal FNV in meetings with local government officials, trade unions, the Dutch Embassy, donors, and other stakeholders;
  • Act as the main point of contact for local inquiries;
  • Foster partnerships and collaboration opportunities;
  • Identify opportunities for profiling and fundraising at the national level.

Skills and Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in labour rights, trade unionism, and relevant professional networks;
  • Strategic thinking and programme implementation experience;
  • Understanding of gender transformative approaches;
  • Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and learning practices;
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills;
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken;
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Based in Colombia.

Contract Details

  • Duration: initially until 30 April 2026, with potential for renewal;
  • Work environment: home/own office facilities, individual work with occasional team collaboration;
  • Hours: part-time (10-12 days/month).
