Understanding your payslip

What does it say on my pay slip?

Your employer gives you payslips. Many employees will receive a payslip every month. But that is not always the case. In any case, you will receive a payslip when you are paid the first time. You will also receive a payslip if anything changes regarding your pay or payroll taxes.

What does it say on my payslip?

  • On your payslip, you can see how your salary is broken down. You can read what your gross and net salary are, what is deducted from your salary, what contributions and allowances you are entitled to, and how much holiday allowance you have accumulated.
  • You can also see what your statutory health insurance premium is. This is deducted from your gross salary. If you contribute to a supplementary health insurance through your employer, you will also see these premiums on your payslip.
