Mondiaal FNV supports workers worldwide in their fight for decent work. We help strengthen trade unions in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East and North Africa. Representative, democratic and inclusive unions, able to stand up for their members to ensure decent work for all.
Mondiaal FNV supports programme partnerships in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region within the scope of its Trade Union Collaboration Programme (TUCP) and STITCH programme on improving labour conditions in the Ready Made Garments (RMG) industry. The current multiple-year programmes run from 2021 to 2025. The programmes focus on thematic areas such as social dialogue, gender mainstreaming, gender equality, as well as specific value chains such as construction and RMG.
As the current Regional Consultant for the region will take a period of extended leave, Mondiaal FNV has a vacancy for a replacement to continue supporting partners with their current projects, joint co-operation and in the further development of future initiatives.
After the replacement period, and subject to developments, there may be a possibility for a follow-up consultancy contract on a limited basis and with a more limited focus.
The replacement consultant is expected to have dealings with different stakeholders including trade unions and (labour-related) NGO’s, international solidarity support offices (SSO’s), local ILO offices and the like.
The role involves practical guidance to partners in formulating project proposals (where applicable) and support, as requested by partners and by Mondiaal FNV, in the monitoring and evaluation of projects (including the formulation of workplans and reports).
All in all the replacement consultant will play a role in the capacity building of partners, and support the general coordination and linking of projects. Furthermore, she/he will represent Mondiaal FNV when necessary towards other stakeholders in the region and will prepare potential visits of Mondiaal FNV officers to the region.
Travel within the region may be required as part of this replacement position.
The preferred location, with a view to accessibility and travel within the region, is Tunisia. Mondiaal FNV works with independent consultants and does not have local offices.
The consultant supports partners in projects and activities within the framework of the TUCP and STITCH programmes. She/he will work closely together with the policy advisor and projects officer of Mondiaal FNV for the region.

The consultant will work individually but will have regular contact with the policy advisor and projects officers of Mondiaal FNV in the Netherlands and other staff where relevant, e.g. PMEL officers. At the beginning and towards the end of the replacement period there will be close contact and co-operation with the current regional consultant. In the event of a follow-up consultancy contract for a limited period, both regional consultants will work both individually as well as in co-operation with each other.
